The deadline for public comments on the proposed Propel Transmission line, which would cut right through our neighborhood, has been extended to July 17. The Civics strongly oppose this project based on potential health, safety, and environmental concerns in addition to disruption to our roads and businesses, and we encourage EVERY resident – including all adult members of each household – to review the below flyer and share your concerns in as detailed a manner as possible, so the powers-that-be will take note and listen.

Shore Road Upgrade - New Project: 
Nassau County has completed all necessary studies to begin work on Shore Rd from Harbor Glen Condos, past Tappen Beach through Sea Cliff to Glen Cove across from the Glen Cove Boys and Girls Club at Shore Rd/ Glen Cove Ave. There will be extensive changes to make the road safer, less prone to flooding, improvements to Scudders Pond, and bike and pedestrian benefits.  Work may start as early as next spring.

Battery Storage (BESS) Project - Update: 
Although one company has withdrawn its proposal to site a lithium ion battery facility on this property it remains a possibility for another one.  A BESS facility there right next to Hempstead Harbor, and close to schools and neighborhoods remains a concern due to continuing reports of toxic conditions caused by battery facility fires elsewhere. Firefighters are not able to put such a fire out.  Currently there is a moratorium in the Town of Oyster Bay and all surrounding communities not allowing any BESS to be built.

Glenwood Landing Post Office - Update: 
The new postmistress, Jennifer has made many changes and is implementing never enforced rules.  Some changes have been box numbers needed on incoming mail, changing long-held combinations, requiring proof of homeownership, cutting hours and removal of the outside community bulletin board.  Our civic board leaders, as well as George Pombar have spoken to Postmistress Jen, as well as our Congressman Tom Suozzi and the Regional Post Office NY District 2.  A committee has been formed to explore home delivery as well as post office rules.

Dumond Place - 7.9 Acres of Land - Glen Head - by RR Tracks  - New Project - Update

This property is up for sale with a commitment from the owners to build 17 homes and 38 townhouses owner occupied.  The Civics are following up on this sale to ensure the commitment is met.
